How do I get feedback on why I wasn’t selected for interview?

What time does the position close?
The closing time for all applications is midday on Monday.

Can I download the application form?
It is not possible to download an application form; you can complete an application online or request an application to be sent to you by post.

Can I send my CV rather than apply on line
In order to apply for a position you would need to complete an application form. We do not accept CVs.

Can I get a paper/email application?
We can send you out a paper copy to complete and return, alternatively you can visit our website and make an application on line Call our recruitment line on: 0870 700 0108
If you do not have a computer you can access one free of charge at any Sutton Library.

Will I be contacted if I am not successful?
If you have not heard within four weeks of the closing date, please assume you have not been shortlisted

Who can I put down as a reference if I haven’t worked for the last 5 years?
If you have not been employed in the past five years you can use your previous work reference. Work can include any voluntary work, work experience or part time work. If you do not have any work experience you will need to provide alternative references.

Can you give me more time to complete ie extend the closing date
All applications need to be received by the closing date stated in the advert.

I can’t apply online as I don’t have access to a computer.
There are a variety of places in Sutton where you can gain access to a computer to allow you to complete your application. All Sutton’s Libraries allow free access to the internet. Alternatively, we can post you a paper application form. Call our recruitment line on: 0870 700 0108

What qualifications do I need for the job that I’m looking at?
Do you have a copy of the person specification and job description for the position? All the information relevant to the position can be found in these documents.

How do I address the criteria in the person specification?
It’s up to you. Good advice is to ensure that you answer each section. When providing examples remember to use examples explaining what happened, what you did and the outcome of the situation.How you have gained the experience and where and what are your transferable skills?

What is the part time salary?
Divide the full time salary by 12 (months) and then by 36 (hours) and multiply by number of hours worked per week.

How do I search & apply online?
To search for a particular occupation you can use the job search facility by selecting/ inputting relevant information in the space provided and clicking on the 'search' icon at the bottom of the page. Alternatively you can list all our vacancies.

To find out more information click on the vacancy. You will be provided with an advert, at the bottom of which will be the links into the job description, person specification and our online application form.

Filling in the form
If after viewing the job description and person specification you feel you are suitable for the position, you should then apply using our online application form.

By registering your details you can:

  • Save the online application at various stages and resume when convenient
  • Receive e-mail remainders prompting you to complete the form as the closing date approaches
  • Receive notifications for any new vacancies you may be interested in as soon as they appear on our website
  • Retrieve your personal details and any other duplicate information for future applications so you don’t have to type it in again.
